Frequently Asked Questions

These are the most frequently asked questions about our products. For any additional questions or clarifications, feel free to contact us.

Are the microphones compatible with my recording device?

It depends on the connection type and the capabilities of the recorder itself.

For recorders that provide a microphone input only in the form of a 3.5mm TRS connector, choose microphones marked as TRS, such as PMO—01—S—TRS. To power the microphone, plug-in power must be enabled in the recorder's settings, typically 2.5V or 5V.

For recorders equipped with XLR microphone inputs, you can choose microphones marked as XLR, such as PMO—01—S—XLR. In this case, phantom power at 48V must be enabled in the recorder's settings to power the microphone. Although the microphones have been tested and should operate at 24V phantom power, for best results it is recommended to use 48V phantom power exclusively.

Are the microphones waterproof?

Although they are designed to be durable, the microphones are not waterproof. If they have been exposed to prolonged rain or moisture, make sure to dry them thoroughly before storage.

I hear low-frequency hum while using "Prutka" microphones. What could be causing this?

There are several possible reasons.

1. The microphone capsules we use have an extended low-frequency response, meaning they capture low frequencies very well. As a result, distant sound sources such as water pumps, vehicles, aircraft, and similar can produce a subtle low-frequency hum. If available, enable the 80Hz low-cut filter on your recorder. We often use it when recording very quiet sounds in nature.

2. Make sure the microphone connector is properly and securely connected to your recorder.

3. Although the microphone capsules themselves are resistant to electrical interference, check whether there is any device in close proximity to the microphone that could be a source of interference, such as power adapters, USB chargers, Wi-Fi routers, or similar devices.

The microphone cable is less flexible when used in very cold conditions. Why is that?

Cables of any type and purpose generally become less flexible in very cold conditions. This is a completely normal phenomenon, and our microphone cables are no exception when temperatures are around or below 0°C. This is not permanent, and the cable will regain its flexibility once returned to normal temperatures.

Cold weather is often accompanied by fog and increased humidity. If the microphones have been used for an extended period in such conditions, make sure to dry them thoroughly after use and before storage.

What is the estimated delivery time for an order?

All products are made to order. Once your offer has been accepted and payment confirmed, we begin production of your order, which takes 4-5 business days.

After all items have been produced, an additional 1-2 business days are required to hand the shipment over to the courier service. You will be notified by email at each step of the process.

Which countries do you ship to?

We currently ship our products exclusively within European Union member state from Croatia. Shipping outside the European Union is not available at this time.

All shipments within the EU are delivered without additional customs procedures or import duties for the customer.

Does submitting a quote request count as an order?

No. Submitting a quote request expresses your interest in our products and allows you to receive information about the production price of the selected items. The quote is considered accepted only after payment has been completed, at which point production begins.

Do you use the information I provide for preparing a quote for marketing purposes?

No. We do not use the information you provide for marketing purposes. The data is used exclusively for preparing a quote and, if the quote is accepted, for processing and delivering your order. The only party that may contact you is the courier service for delivery purposes.

You mention that the products are tested in wetlands, forests, and dry environments — how do you carry out these tests?

As mentioned in our story, we are based in a part of Croatia surrounded by exactly these kinds of environments. Every product undergoes field testing, where we evaluate whether handling is simple, intuitive, and safe.

As wildlife photographers ourselves, we use our products on a daily basis, and whenever we encounter an issue in real use, we immediately work on finding and implementing a solution.
