Hand-stitched in our workshop, this fluffy little accessory may not stop extreme wind gusts, but it will definitely help during field recordings in light to moderate wind conditions.
Commonly known as a "dead cat", it is made of faux fur with an open-cell foam layer sewn inside to further disperse wind before it reaches the microphone. Its shape is achieved using an elastic latex band, which also ensures secure placement on the microphone.
The elastic band is intentionally not cut flush with the microphone opening, as this makes the opening easier to locate and allows for simpler microphone insertion.
